June’s boxes have started arriving, first of the bunch this month was Look Incredible.
When I picked up the parcel from the postman I was surprised at how heavy it was this month and wondered what on Earth could be inside. Incredibly (pun intended!) I have no complaints about this month’s jam packed box
So, What’s In The Box?
Ciaté, Very Colourfoil Manicure set, limited edition and no longer on sale from Ciaté
I’m not disappointed by this one being technically discontinued because it was always supposed to be limited edition, none of the parts have a short shelf life and all of the bits are useful to anyone who does nails.
The kit contains a neutral, grey coloured Ciate paint pot (Cream Soda), some small foil sheets in an envelope, glue for attaching the foil and a set of display nails which you can use to practice on if you’re new to the technique or use however you want if you’re not. I might use them to practice painting with my acrylic paints instead or just to show the colours of Ciaté polish in my collection.
No7 Exceptional Definition mascara, £11.50 RRP
I’m really pleased to get this mascara as it’s actually one of my favourites and probably one of the only non-Benefit mascaras I’ve bought time and time again. It has a double sided wand that’s actually quite difficult to get used to using but once you do it delivers some great results.
Stila, All Over Shimmer liquid luminizer in ‘Kitten Shimmer’
A liquid luminiser or highlighter depending on how you want to use it, you can mix it with your foundation for a luminous complexion or apply it over the top of foundation onto the areas you want to highlight and blend it in. I found it was also possible to get it to dry without blending it out (check out my swatches at the end of the post) so there could well be even more uses for this product!
The Body Shop, Moroccan Rhassoul Body Clay, £16 RRP
This is why the box weighed so much! A clay mask for the body is not something I’ve ever made use of at home before, I do hope it’s not too messy. The clay it’s self smells very nice but is quite strongly fragranced so possibly one to avoid if you don’t get on with fragrance ingredients. It’s alleged to firm and tighten the skin but we all know that’s a claim they shouldn’t be allowed to make – right ladies? It will certainly feel tight having a layer of dried clay over your skin but the chances of skin tightening being a long term effect of any lotion or potion are pretty much nil.
The main ingredient in this mask is in fact kaolin clay rather than the titled rhassoul clay (which is 6th on the list) as you might expect. There is no scientific or clinical data supporting the use of kaolin clay or on rhassoul clay in dermatological practice despite them being extensively used in spas as mud baths and wraps.
Velvet 59, Matte To The Max liquid lipstick in ‘Pink Cadillac’, $20 RRP
This is a true matte lipstick. It dries completely although not quite as quickly as other brands there are out there. The shade in the box is very bright pink – much brighter than the lip swatch shown on the Velvet 59 website to illustrate the colour which would actually put me off buying the others as this makes me think that either their images are either not properly representational or they have consistency issues. I would very much have preferred any of the other possible shades to this one, baby pink is really not very me but I’ll keep it for use as a liner and for lip art which is something I want to do more of.
These are the two quick swatches I did. Top is the lip product which is very Lady Penelope in colour although I’m wondering if the name has more to do with a certain Mr Springsteen?
Next is the Stila All Over Shimmer which would dry even when applied thickly like this to show the colour. I think this could make it into quite a versatile and buildable product.
Overall this is a very good box from LI and I’ll definitely be keeping and using everything in it although, naturally, I won’t be expecting any miracles from the body mask just a relaxing home spa experience.
Do any of you get Look Incredible? What did you think of this month’s box?
