August Favourites!

It’s the beginning of September! Hooray! I’m back in college next week and can’t wait. I’ve been sorting out my make-up into easy to pick up kit bags. That way I can pick up what ever I’ll need for the day more easily but I’ll do a separate post on that later.

August Favourites

Right now it’s all about the things I loved in the lovely month of August!

Beauty Bakerie, liquid lipstick in ‘Versailles’
This stuff is my Holy Grail of liquid lipstick. It stays on me longer than any other I’ve tried – I had some left on at bed time and had to work hard to take it off with oily make-up remover. It’s also comfortable, I seriously forgot it was even there. It’s the bomb! Now I can see a lot of my collection being replaced with these.

Kat Von D, limited edition ‘London Calling: Fearless Favourites’ set
London CallingThis set was released to celebrate the launch of the brand in the UK at Debenhams. Inside are Kat’s famous Tattoo Liner in ‘Trooper’, Studded Kiss lipstick in ‘Lolita’ and Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in ‘Cocoa Blush’.
The liner is totally amazing and I’m a big fan or her Studded Kiss lipsticks as they are so pigmented! The brand should hit UK branches of Debenhams & be available online next month.

Urban Decay, 24/7 Glide On eye pencil in ‘Deep End’
I haven’t felt like wearing heavy eye make-up over the summer but being a lady with hooded eyes some definition is a must. This pencil brings colour and definition and stays put! It’s also a super quick way to do a bit of eye make-up when you’re short on time. This shade really suits me and compliments my eyes and my glasses too.

Illamasqua, limited edition ‘Rose Gold’ collection lipstick in ‘Wanton’
The packaging on the lipsticks in this collection is beautiful although I passed up on the palette because it only had two new shades and was made of cardboard! Not really what you’d expect from a brand like Illamasqua!
Anyway, back to the lipstick. As my regular readers will know I’m a huge fan of the lippie formula from a longevity standpoint so naturally when they released three new shades as a part of this collection I had to investigate. I’m still umming and ahhing over getting the nude shade.

Marks & Spencer, mascara correction buds
Now you might be thinking that this is an odd thing to put in my favourites but I discovered these a little while back, and, well… I keep buying them! I don’t use them to ‘correct’ mascara as the box suggests you might do with them but to remove eye make-up from my lashes and prevent morning panda eye. You know how you always think you got all your eye make-up off but somehow you still wake up with black under your eyes? Stubborn liner in the base of your lashes is a pain but these will babies grab it.

They’re like fancy q-tips with make-up remover inside. You snap one end and the remover flows to the cotton on the opposite end and provides just the right amount. They are super handy and only ¬£3 for a box. I’m sure there are probably other brands but these are the ones I’ve found on my local highstreet.

The Swatches

Here are the product swatches on the inside of my arm:

What have your favourites been this last month? Have you made any new discoveries or made friends with something from the back of the drawer?

  1. Some fantastic products! I can’t wait for Kat Von D to launch. I really need to pull my brighter eyeliners out next summer. I went through a phase of loving them & then felt like they didn’t work with my coloured lenses in my glasses, so they’ve sat in a draw for a few years. This month, I’ve been reacquainting myself with some of my older products. I’d like to work through my lip products before they go bad as I have SO many! I pulled out a Dior Lip Addict lipstick that I’ve had for a while & been giving that some love. Xx

  2. Yes! I know what you mean about that something ‘extra’ compared to the NYX ones. These stay on my waterline longer and smudge less over time.x
