I am prompted to write this because I keep noticing that proper hygiene is severely lacking among many who would call themselves make-up artists.
Hygiene is one of the most important things when it comes to make-up application. It is also one of the most basic lessons we learn in school as artists or therapists. So why does it go out of the window so freely?
It’s definitely one thing everyone should look for in a make-up artist. It could save your health; or for an artist possibly your career. I hope this post will be helpful to those who use make-up, book make-up artists, and of course artists themselves. Continue reading
Coconut oil. You must have lived under a rock for the last 5 years or so if you haven’t been told of its alleged magical properties. People have used it for everything, and not just in their recipes. Rubbing into their skin, hair and lips for such purposes as removing make-up, moisturising, teeth whitening, hair oil, an alternative to eye cream or as a lip balm.
Coconut oil is not as innocent or beneficial as it may at first seem though. I’m going to tell you my experience and then give you the science. Continue reading
Yes, another well known high street brand has brought out a matte liquid lipstick product. You’re forgiven for not being that excited if you were let down by the offerings of Revlon and Maybelline whose products were most certainly not matte! But fear not – this is the most successful and comfortable big brand version I have thus far found! Continue reading
For this post I’ve come up with 4 products I have loved this year and another 3 I have disliked and thrown or given away.
It’s quite disappointing that I couldn’t find more make-up ‘loves’ out of all the new products that came out in 2016. The consumer brands all seem to be producing the exact same things as one another, endless ‘dupes’ and copying – it’s all a bit well, meh.
Then there’s the fact that there are only so many contour palettes with dozens of shades anyone needs *cough*the answer is none!*cough* Banana powder will never suit pale ladies no matter how hard the now multiple brands producing it try to push it. In 2017 – lets do something different huh? Continue reading
For my college Christmas competition I created a “Christmas Shopping Zombie” character and wanted to share the finished make-up with you here.
I used a few different techniques including prosthetics to complete the make-up.
It was really quite stressful but so worth it in the end. I didn’t get to finish everything I had wanted to add to the character in the allotted time but it came out pretty good nonetheless.
My completed zombie creation finished in second place in the competition with the help of my brilliant model Beth!
Here we are with my tutor receiving my certificate and prize. Unfortunately you can’t quite see all my props here but inside her shopping bags are a brain I made from latex and similarly created severed hand!
I hope all of you are having a great holiday season and enjoying any time off work/school you have. Fingers crossed for 2017 huh?
