Everything You Need To Know About Lip Liner

Matching Lipstick & Liner

After the heavily lined lips of the 90’s, lip liner was left stuck with something of an image problem. Those days of pale and often shimmery lipstick with dark brown lip lines are (mostly) long behind us now but for many they still linger in the backs of their minds, leaving them with an unneeded fear of lip liner.
Properly matched and applied, a lip liner can add definition, correct the shape and if necessary change the size of the mouth, make the mouth appear more symmetrical, prevent lipstick feathering and even increase the longevity of your lipstick product meaning fewer touch ups are needed throughout the day. Look Incredible March 2016

Look Incredible March 2016If you remember a few posts back I mentioned I was interested in trying out other beauty boxes, and, well I took the plunge and joined up with new start up ‘Look Incredible’. This is only the third or fourth box they’ve put out and they’ve had rave reviews on the previous editions.
So how does it look? Nice plain black box with no fancy printing or anything just a sticker on the lid with the ‘Look Incredible’ logo. No money wasted on the box – just how I like it! There’s a single sheet of product info (which unfortunately doesn’t quite fit into the box!) telling you what each of the products are, their recommended retail price and the total of the recommended prices to increase your perceived value of the box.

So what was in the March box, get on with it woman!

The Body Shop, White Musk Libertine EDT 60ml, RRP £16
Described as a bold new twist on musk, the twist as far as I can tell is that it doesn’t actually contain any musks! That’s what makes it loudly and proudly ‘Cruelty Free’. A pleasant if slightly sweet fragrance, very suited to summer.

Pupa, Pupalash Energiser mascara, RRP £19.99
Pupa are a new brand for me, I’m sure I’ve heard the name somewhere but I’ve never seen them for sale in any shops or tried any of their products before. This mascara is supposed to include a lash growth serum in its formula so as well as making your lashes look longer it will nourish them and encourage them to become actually longer – can’t wait to try this one out properly.

OPI Shatter nail polish in ‘Shatter the Scales’, RRP £8.99
OPI Shatter polishes are crackle coats which you apply over the top of another colour. The crackle or ‘shatter’ coat then quickly separates and creates a kind of broken paving slab effect allowing the colour you painted first to show through the shatter polish colour. ‘Shatter the Scales’ is a colour right up my street, it’s a very dark sea green glitter.

BareMinerals, Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 in ‘The Phenomenon’, RRP £20
25537439345_57e1d5b987_zAn eye shadow duo with the usual annoying sponge applicator (seriously why do brands still waste money on putting these in?). One shade is a fairly run of the mill cool lilac and the other is a gorgeous warm yellow gold. Apparently these go together? Is it 1985 again? Lovely formula though and the gold is well pigmented, the lilac however is not as good. In the swatches the gold is one swipe while the lilac took three to get it that bold.

NARS, Velvet Gloss lip pencil in ‘Club Mix’, RRP £19
25418955422_65e4391b99_zI was so happy to see one of these in the box as I adore the NARS lip pencils, they always have great pigmentation and staying power. This shade happened to be pretty perfect for me which is something that hasn’t happened with any other beauty box, it’s a gorgeous  muted berry tone with a slight gloss to it.

What a great box! I have to say I’m very impressed with this first box from ‘Look Incredible’ and will definitely keep it on for another month. I am seriously considering swapping Birchbox for this. What do you guys think? I can’t realistically keep on three boxes that’s for sure! Are any of you ‘Look Incredible’ subscribers?

Glossybox for Nars

Glossybox For NARS

Glossybox For NARSAs soon as I heard Glossybox were releasing a limited edition NARS box I knew I had to have one and put my name down on the list. On the day of release (the 16th) I was one of the lucky people who managed to secure one despite the issues with their website.
To my knowledge NARS haven’t really been featured in beauty boxes before so this is a very exciting collaboration!

The box its self is matte black just like all NARS packaging and has the logo on the front side with the usual Glossybox logo on the lid. Inside the tissue paper is also black and it was all tied together with a black NARS printed ribbon which I’ll be sure to keep!

What’s in the box?

All of the products are luxury travel sized, they are quite generous samples especially The Multiple. They are all gorgeous miniatures of the full sizes, no detail has been missed has been in the making of these little wonders.

Blush in ‘Orgasm’
NARS 'Orgasm' BlushA NARS cult classic this is one of my absolute favourite NARS products so it’s great to see it made it into the box. ‘Orgasm’ gives a natural flush which can be built up for the evening if you wish. Has a very subtle and natural looking highlighty quality to it, truly a product worthy of the hype surrounding it.
The Multiple in ‘Orgasm’
NARS 'Orgasm' MultipleThe Multiple is a cream product designed to be used for cheeks, lips, eyes and even body this is also in the iconic shade of ‘Orgasm’.
I’ve found it works best if I warm it a little on the back of my hand before applying to my cheeks for a gorgeous natural looking flush. It also works well on the lips but I don’t think I’ll be trying this shade on my eyes. I’m planning on trying out pairing it with the blush for an evening look.
Audacious Mascara
NARS Audacious MascaraNARS recently wiped out their entire mascara range and replaced with just this one product so I’m glad this was included as I’ve been wanting to try it out. The wand is apparently designed to have “over 200 moulded bristles and lengthening hooks” to catch the lashes and coat them fully from root to tip. The mascara lengthens the lashes and as it’s not a waterproof formula it’s very easy to remove at the end of the day. I didn’t experience too much, if any, fallout which is surprisingly good for a regular (non-waterproof) mascara. I found it a little clumpy and probably won’t be switching from my usual products.

Larger Than Life Eyeliner in ‘Via Veneto’

NARS 'Via Veneto'A long wearing product is just what is needed at this time of year – party season means lots of late nights and full faces of make-up! ‘Via Veneto’ is a black pencil with a smooth application and very easy to use. I’m happy to say that in my short experience of this pencil it did not smudge or budge an inch in the time I was wearing it and I look forward to continuing using it.

Satin Lip Pencil in ‘Rikugien ‘
NARS 'Rikugien'This is my first lip pencil from NARS and I will definitely be adding more of these to my collection after using this one. ‘Rikugien’ is a very natural looking shade on me, slightly sheer but not too much so. This feels very comfortable to wear and lasts well. A good shade for no-makeup-makeup looks.

Overall I’m very pleased with this box and will be keeping all of the products, I hope Glossybox do more of these high end collaborations in the future. They’ve really set the bar high with this box!

Did you manage to get your hands on one before they sold out?
